Product Overview
Tofu Mix is not a single homogeneous pellet. It is a dry blend of plant-based tofu granules and mineral bentonite granules. The tofu fraction uses starch raw material supported by food-grade safety certificates. The bentonite fraction comes from Hengjie's own mine supply. Changing the tofu-to-bentonite ratio changes clump hardness, dust level, bag weight, tracking, and water dispersibility. We confirm the ratio before quotation.
Custom orders can use an overall granule range of 0.5–3.0 mm. The tofu fraction and bentonite fraction may use different granule sizes within that range. Final granule size is confirmed per SKU and per market. Plant-based granules are dried to ≤10% moisture after granulation. Mineral granules are dried to ≤3% moisture. Both fractions are screened before blending.

Quality Control and Flushability

Incoming plant starch is checked against food-grade safety certificates. Bentonite is sourced from Hengjie's own mine supply and controlled for moisture and mineral content before granulation. Production tracking runs from raw material intake to finished goods. Laboratory checks cover moisture, water absorption, clumping time, dust rate, bulk density, and compressive strength.

Flushability depends on the bentonite content. Bentonite does not disperse in water like tofu granules. Hengjie does not mark a Tofu Mix SKU as flushable until the formula has been reviewed and the destination market's sewer rules have been checked. For bentonite-containing blends, the default recommendation is not to flush. Buyers should confirm the final claim with us before printing packaging.

Raw materials undergo twin-shaft mixing with water added to achieve a moisture content of 16%–20%. (Note: Alkali addition is required for producing premium-grade products, whereas ordinary ore sand does not require it.)
The mixed raw materials are fed at a constant rate into a twin-roll extrusion machine to form cakes. These cakes are then stockpiled for a minimum of seven days before drying.
The extruded semi-finished products are fed into a dryer; the temperature is controlled to reduce the moisture content of the granules to 3%–5%.
The dried semi-finished products enter the crushing hopper and are conveyed via belt to a vertical-shaft crusher. The crushed granules are screened; those meeting the 1–2 mm or 1–4 mm specifications are collected in bulk bags, while granules larger than 4 mm are recirculated through the crusher.
The screened granules undergo a second drying process to reduce moisture to ≤3%. They then pass through a rotary screen for final sizing and are collected in bulk bags, awaiting coating and packaging.
Packaging is performed according to production order requirements. Before packaging, materials undergo vibrating screening for dust removal, and a "first-article inspection" is conducted; packaging proceeds only if the product meets quality standards regarding clumping and dust levels. During packaging, attention is paid to batch coding, bag weight, sealing, quantity, and the attachment of accurate identification tags.
Finished products are stored in the warehouse according to established protocols, sorted by product type and arranged neatly.
