Crushed tofu cat litter uses a plant-starch base, not bentonite. The tofu base is mixed, granulated, microwave-dried to ≤10% moisture, then crushed and screened to an irregular granule. Buyers choose this format when a smaller, irregular tofu particle is required instead of standard cylindrical pellets, or when the granule is blended into hybrid litter formulas. This SKU contains no bentonite.

Granule and Material
The starch raw materials used on Hengjie's tofu line carry food-grade safety documentation, which can be shared for buyer review. Granule distribution is quoted against the buyer's litter box type, packing format, and target market. Typical screened fractions are 0.5–1.5 mm, 1–2 mm, and 2–4 mm; the final cut is confirmed at sample approval. Crushed granules are irregular, so bulk density and flow behavior differ from cylindrical tofu pellets. We record both during sample approval so the buyer can set filling weights and bag volumes before the first production run.
Where this format fits in a product line
Crushed tofu is typically specified by buyers who already carry a cylindrical tofu SKU and want a second plant-based texture, or by brands building a multi-format plant-based range without introducing bentonite. It can also be supplied as a blend component for hybrid formulas; in that case the blend ratio and any flushability claim are confirmed against the final formula, not carried over from the crushed SKU alone.
How the crushed cut is made and controlled
The tofu base is mixed, granulated through an order-specific die, and microwave-dried to ≤10% moisture. The dried pellets then pass a crushing stage and a rotary screen; the screen cut sets the particle distribution. Because the granule is irregular, bulk density and flow rate vary more than with cylindrical tofu pellets. We measure both on the approved sample and hold subsequent batches against that reference, so bag-fill weights and packaging-line settings can be fixed before the first commercial run.

Raw materials undergo twin-shaft mixing with water added to achieve a moisture content of 16%–20%. (Note: Alkali addition is required for producing premium-grade products, whereas ordinary ore sand does not require it.)
The mixed raw materials are fed at a constant rate into a twin-roll extrusion machine to form cakes. These cakes are then stockpiled for a minimum of seven days before drying.
The extruded semi-finished products are fed into a dryer; the temperature is controlled to reduce the moisture content of the granules to 3%–5%.
The dried semi-finished products enter the crushing hopper and are conveyed via belt to a vertical-shaft crusher. The crushed granules are screened; those meeting the 1–2 mm or 1–4 mm specifications are collected in bulk bags, while granules larger than 4 mm are recirculated through the crusher.
The screened granules undergo a second drying process to reduce moisture to ≤3%. They then pass through a rotary screen for final sizing and are collected in bulk bags, awaiting coating and packaging.
Packaging is performed according to production order requirements. Before packaging, materials undergo vibrating screening for dust removal, and a "first-article inspection" is conducted; packaging proceeds only if the product meets quality standards regarding clumping and dust levels. During packaging, attention is paid to batch coding, bag weight, sealing, quantity, and the attachment of accurate identification tags.
Finished products are stored in the warehouse according to established protocols, sorted by product type and arranged neatly.

Q: Is the 3,000 kg MOQ a single production run?
A: Yes, per crushed tofu SKU. A different screen fraction or scent is a separate SKU with its own 3,000 kg minimum. Bag-size changes within the same granule and scent are handled as packaging variants, not new product SKUs.
Q: How does crushed tofu differ from your cylindrical tofu pellet?
A: The upstream tofu base is the same; the difference is the finishing step. Crushed product goes through a crushing and screening stage after drying, producing an irregular granule instead of a cylindrical pellet. Bulk density, fill weight, and tracking behaviour are measured on the crushed cut separately and are not interchangeable with pellet values.
Q: Can you supply a fraction finer than 0.5 mm or coarser than 4 mm?
A: Those cuts are quoted only after a trial crush-and-screen run. We do not publish a standard fraction outside the 0.5–4 mm window because yield and dust rate change with the raw base lot.
Q: What dust data comes with a batch?
A: Dust rate is measured after the rotary screen and before packing. The value is recorded per batch against the approved sample, alongside moisture, clumping time, bulk density, and compressive strength.
