Product Overview
This tofu litter is built around one manufacturing decision: the pellet has to hold its shape in the bag and break down in water. We produce it from food-grade soybean fiber at our Anhui plant, where the line runs mixing, granulation, microwave drying and screening in sequence. The fiber source is a byproduct of food processing, not a dedicated agricultural crop, which keeps the raw material stream consistent in color and starch content between batches. Moisture after microwave drying is held at ≤10%, a range that reduces mold risk during container transit without making the pellet brittle. Each production run is sampled for clumping time, dust, and disintegration before it is cleared for packaging.

For buyers comparing tofu suppliers, the relevant difference is not the ingredient list - most tofu litters use soybean or pea fiber with a starch binder. The difference sits in how the pellet is dried and screened. Microwave drying removes moisture from the inside of the pellet rather than only the surface, which is why the granules keep their cylindrical shape after filling and palletizing. A 1.5 mm pellet and a 3.0 mm pellet can come from the same formulation, but they behave differently in a litter box and in a sewer line; we produce both and document the difference on the batch COA.

Flushable Behavior: What the Label Means

01
"Flushable" on a tofu litter label is a description of how the pellet disintegrates in water, not a blanket statement about every plumbing system. Our pellets are tested by placing a clump into 500 ml of water at 35°C and observing breakdown under gentle agitation. The pellet should disperse within one minute; the clump structure should no longer be visible. This matches the method buyers in Japan and parts of Europe commonly ask us to document, where disintegration time is checked against a batch-specific limit rather than a marketing claim.

02
The practical instruction printed on private-label bags is to flush no more than one scoop at a time and to avoid flushing litter from multiple cats in a single flush. This is a handling instruction, not a material limitation - the same pellet that disperses in a beaker will disperse in a toilet bowl when given enough water volume and residence time. For buyers selling into markets with older pipe infrastructure, we can supply the batch dissolution record alongside the COA so the end customer sees the test condition behind the claim.

Quality Control & Documents
Tofu litter is more sensitive to moisture and microbial load than mineral litter, so the QC points sit at the drying and packaging stages rather than only at raw material intake. Our Anhui line runs a 27-step control sequence from incoming fiber inspection to finished-goods sampling; the CNAS-accredited laboratory on site tests moisture, clumping time, dust, and disintegration before a batch is released. Each shipment is accompanied by a batch COA, MSDS, and the certification set relevant to the destination market: ISO 9001, BSCI, CE-RoHS, and REACH compliance documents are available on request. If your market requires a third-party heavy-metals or mold-count report, we can arrange sampling at the batch stage rather than after the container is sealed.

Finished Product Warehousing
Raw materials undergo twin-shaft mixing with water added to achieve a moisture content of 16%–20%. (Note: Alkali addition is required for producing premium-grade products, whereas ordinary ore sand does not require it.)

The mixed raw materials are fed at a constant rate into a twin-roll extrusion machine to form cakes. These cakes are then stockpiled for a minimum of seven days before drying.

The extruded semi-finished products are fed into a dryer; the temperature is controlled to reduce the moisture content of the granules to 3%–5%.

The dried semi-finished products enter the crushing hopper and are conveyed via belt to a vertical-shaft crusher. The crushed granules are screened; those meeting the 1–2 mm or 1–4 mm specifications are collected in bulk bags, while granules larger than 4 mm are recirculated through the crusher.

The screened granules undergo a second drying process to reduce moisture to ≤3%. They then pass through a rotary screen for final sizing and are collected in bulk bags, awaiting coating and packaging.

Packaging is performed according to production order requirements. Before packaging, materials undergo vibrating screening for dust removal, and a "first-article inspection" is conducted; packaging proceeds only if the product meets quality standards regarding clumping and dust levels. During packaging, attention is paid to batch coding, bag weight, sealing, quantity, and the attachment of accurate identification tags.

Finished products are stored in the warehouse according to established protocols, sorted by product type and arranged neatly.

FAQ
Q: What dispersion data can be supplied with a batch?
A: The batch record carries the in-house dispersion time from the 10 g / 500 mL check, and the retained sample stays with the production record. A COA can include that value if the buyer requests it. A third-party flushability report for a specific market is arranged at quotation stage; the testing scope and cost are confirmed before the order because the protocols differ between markets.
Q: Can we print "flushable" on our retail bag?
A: That depends on the market. Hengjie supplies the dispersion data and the base formula information; the on-pack claim and local compliance review sit with the brand owner. Some buyers require a local test report before allowing the claim. If that report is needed, specify the destination market at quotation so the test scope can be quoted with the litter.
Q: How is this different from Tofu Cat Litter Original?
A: Original is the unscented base SKU with a harder clump and no dispersion claim. Flushable uses a higher fiber fraction and a lower binder balance so the clump separates in water. Original is the better fit where clump hardness is the priority; Flushable is the better fit where the market expects small-quantity toilet disposal.
Q: What flushing instruction should appear on the pack?
A: One or two clumps at a time, followed by an immediate flush. The pellet disperses under flow; it does not dissolve instantly in a dry bowl. Packs should not suggest flushing large volumes or leaving clumps in the bowl. Local plumbing and wastewater guidelines override any general instruction.
Q: Can a first order combine Flushable with other SKUs?
A: Yes, subject to each SKU meeting 3,000 kg. Mixed containers are reviewed case by case. Printed bags add a separate bag-supplier minimum, so a first order that tests two SKUs is usually quoted with neutral bags or with the print minimum stated separately.
